This is an opportunity to join an experienced housing advice team within Tameside. The Homeless Reduction Act being introduced places duties on Local Authorities within England so that everyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness will have access to meaning full help.
The role of the Homeless Prevention Officer is to interview, assess and identify prevention options while working collaboratively with housing providers, homelessness services, prisons, substance misuse services and other relevant partners
A key part of this role is to carry out assessments making appropriate enquires to determine the available options for the customer. You will need to have a good understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness and its prevention, with IT and case recording skills You will also need the ability to solve problems within the context of the Local authorities polices and legal duties, manage a caseload and meet deadlines as well as being able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. The successful candidate will need to be able to negotiate and communicate empathetically with people whilst being sensitive to different life experiences.
