This is an opportunity to join an experienced housing options team within Knowsley, Merseyside. The Homeless Reduction Act introduced in April 2018 places new duties on Local Authorities within England so that everyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness will have access to meaning full help.
We are recruiting for a temporary accommodation officer within the service
The role of the temporary accommodation officer is o secure temporary or emergency accommodation for homeless households in accordance with legislation and to manage households stay in temporary or emergency accommodation, including liaison with key colleagues and/or agency partners, processing housing benefit and facilitating planned and timely move on.
You will be responsible for all cases placed into temporary accommodation under a relief duty through to case resolution which can also includes assessment of household beyond relief duty to ascertain what further duties may be owed.
A key part of this role is to carry out assessments making appropriate enquires to determine the available options for the customer. You will need to have a good understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness and its prevention, with IT and case recording skills You will also need the ability to solve problems within the context of the Local authorities polices and legal duties, manage a caseload and meet deadlines as well as being able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. The successful candidate will need to be able to negotiate and communicate empathetically with people whilst being sensitive to different life experiences.
